With due respects to Roberto Assagioli, who wrote the Stonecutters Parable…
Three recruiters were interviewed about what Digital Technology has done for them…
The first recruiter says (sarcastically):
“Digital? Oh great! As if I didn’t have enough to do. I’ve got to keep up with our corporate blog, our career website, the Facebook page and now Twitter. I don’t really understand how to use any of this stuff. I don’t even like technology. It’s made my life miserable.”
The second recruiter says (with enthusiasm):
“Digital? It’s great! I’ve got 1200 followers on Twitter and update my Facebook status 12 times a day. I get to post really cool stuff on our corporate blog. I’m totally linked into all these groups and fan pages. And the best part is, we have three times the number of applicants in our applicant tracking system. On top of that, it’s all free!”
The third recruiter says (knowingly):
“You know, the part I’ve always loved about my job is interviewing, sitting down with someone and finding the connections, seeing what makes them, me, and my company tick. Now I get to do that on such a wider scale, and I believe I’m getting hooked into a much more significant pool of talent. And all these people can get a real sense of my company at the same time. It’s a little more time-intensive, and really challenges me to think, but the payoff is so worth it!”
